Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, covers an area of 12,400 km2 with a 14 million population. Considered as a large and important central city in Western China, it is the epicenter on so many fronts—technical, financial, commercial, transportation and communication. Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone ranks an impressive 4th in the national Hi-Tech Zone appraisal, just behind Beijing Zhongguancun, Shanghai Zhangjiang and Shenzhen Hi-Tech Zone. It is home to as much as 45% of Chengdu’s Hi-Tech enterprises. Many highflying enterprises base themselves here, like GE’s 1st Global Innovation Center, Siemens’s 2nd Global Digital Production R&D Base, Philips’s 2nd local Regional Headquarters, and 2K’s 3rd local Game Development Base. Furthermore, the Zone’s South Park is the economic hub of south Chengdu. The massive Global Center, the Chengdu Financial City and the New Convention & Exposition Center are situated right there.
